Eat a variety of foods
It is very important to consume foods from all the food groups on a daily basis including two portions of cereals plus one portion of egumes plus one portion of vegetables (greens) and oil which provides a nutritious mix.
Adequate food and nutrient intake must be consumed during pregnancy and lactation.
Iron rich food should be eaten during pregnancy. Eat foods easily digested including cookies, tostadas, rice, pasta when waking up to avoid morning sickness.
Complementary feeding can be started between 4 - 6 months
Weaning from breast feeding should start between 6 and 8 months. If children are between 6 and 8 months and are not gaining weight, provide additional food that is consumed by the family.
Adequate food and nutrient intake is essential during childhood and adolescence.
When children are between 1 and 2 years old they should be consuming food 3 times a day, plus 2 snacks in the morning and in the afternoon. The amount should be increased year by year. Food colors should be mixed including white, reds, green and yellow to make your meal nutritious and healthy.
