About the Tropicana Nutrition Institute

Tropicana Nutrition Institute Nutritionist Network
The Tropicana Nutrition Institute has a network of outstanding nutrition professionals that spans the globe. Collaborating with both internal nutritionists as well as third-party experts in many countries, the Nutritionist Network provides an international perspective on fruit and juice nutrition.

Dr. Joy Dubost   International

Dr. Joy Dubost is a member of the international team of the Tropicana Nutrition Institute Nutritionist Network.

Dr. Dubost's area of expertise is Antioxidants and Functional Foods and she has published a multitude of papers in this arena.

Dr. Dubost belongs to the American Dietetic Association and has been a registered dietitian since 1998. An active member of the American Chemical Society and Institute of Food Technologists, Dr. Dubost obtained her PhD from Pennsylvania State University, her MS from the University of Georgia and her Bachelor's degree from Hood College.


Yashna Harjani   Asia Pacific

Based in Bangkok, Yashna Harjani oversees the Asia Pacific region for the Tropicana Nutrition Institute Nutritionist Network, including India and China.

Ms. Harjani has worked as a nutrition facilitator with both the government and private sector in Singapore. She is a prolific writer and has been a regular contributor to the Asian Food Information Center (AFIC) newsletter; and has written over 100 articles for many local health and feature magazines in both Singapore and India. She has had years of experience in the development and dissemination of nutrition education programs for children and was the co-developer of the ILSI SEA, Power Kids Eat Smart program for children in Asia. Ms. Harjani holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics and a Bachelors Degree in Nutrition from Mumbai University in India.


Dr. Sue Gatenby   Europe and the Middle East

Based in the United Kingdom, Dr Sue Gatenby oversees the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa regions for the Tropicana Nutrition Institute Nutritionist Network.

With over 20 years of experience in clinical nutrition research, nutrition policy and industry Dr Gatenby brings a wealth and diversity of nutrition knowledge to the Tropicana Nutrition Institute. She has a particular interest in clinical nutrition, the development of dietary guidelines and public health. She is a member of the British Dietetic Association and the Nutrition Society of Great Britain. As Director of Nutrition for a multinational food and beverage company she is responsible for nutrition strategy, research and communication.

Dr. Gatenby has a first class BSc honours degree in Nutrition, a Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics and a PhD in Nutrition from King’s College, University of London.

Alejandra Rullan Bonillas   Latin America

Alejandra Rullan Bonillas oversees the Latin American region of the Nutritionist Network for the Tropicana Nutrition Institute.

Ms. Bonillas is also the nutrition leader of Latin America for a multinational food and beverage company.  In that role, she has developed programs to clarify the nutritional information released about products.  She has also helped to implement strategic communication programs based on health and wellness initiatives.

Ms. Bonillas is based in Mexico, and is well established within the professional nutrition community.  Some of the groups that she works with include The Cardiology Society, The Mexican Nutrition College, The Diabetes Foundation, and the Health Ministry.

In addition to chairing multiple national and international nutrition conferences, Ms. Bonillas has written approximately 350 articles about nutrition including publications in Clinical Nutrition and in Food Technology.

Ms. Bonillas earned her Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Food Sciences and her Master’s degree in Food Science and Technology both from the University Iberoamericana in Mexico City, Mexico.

Valeria Ortiz   Latin America

Valeria Ortiz is part of the Latin American team of the Tropicana Nutrition Institute Nutritionist Network.

Ms. Ortiz is also the Nutrition and Wellbeing manager overseeing the Latin American region for a multinational food and beverage company. In that role, she has developed programs to clarify the nutritional information released about products. She has also helped to implement strategic communication programs based on health and wellness initiatives.

Ms. Ortiz is based in Mexico, where she is currently serving as President of the Association of Nutrition and Food Science Alumni for the Universidad Iberoamericana. She has published a variety of scientific research papers, with the core of her research focusing on the importance of physical activity for children.

Ms. Ortiz obtained her Masters degree in Public Health Nutrition from the University of Glasgow in the United Kingdom. She also possesses a post-graduate diploma from the Universidad de la Plata in Argentina and completed her undergraduate studies at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico.
